Partially correct - the NetBSD ports use the same toolchain, but a
different linker. On the other hand, I'm not aware of any problems in said
linker with handling versioned symbols, so it's not relevant to *this*
issue, with any luck.

I don't know what the FreeBSD ports are using for their linker, however.
