Hmm, that doesn't really parse cleanly. I would write this as:
XStow (like GNU Stow) is a program for managing the installation of
software packages; installed programs are kept separate
(/usr/local/stow/emacs [...]
Also, why can't these improvements just be rolled into GNU stow?
