Yes, I know.  Since my email above, libc6 has been changed, I've verified
the fix, this bug has been closed...

...and I've sent such a patch to the qmail mailing list.  Of course, they
probably won't accept it.

I would therefore like to posit that computing's central challenge, viz. "How
not to make a mess of it," has /not/ been met.
