There is no such thing as "correct" typography, only current
typographical conventions, which vary with time, place, context, font,
purpose and so on.

For example, while many good typographers do insert extra space
between sentences, many don't.  See, for example, Robert Bringhurst's
"The Elements of Typographic Style" for someone who argues against
extra space.
