What's the defferant between sponsor and advocate?

To familiar with applicant advocate have to know applicants work what
has he done, what is he willing to do? How is he and who is he ? 

Am I right ?

work -- which is exactly the same thing someone responding to a "will
you be my sponsor?" has to do.
