There is of course more than one open bug in the current release. You can
consider a NMU if the maintainer keeps silent. You could also attach a Patch
to your bug report.
There is a way to issue a maintainer ping to check if the packages are
orphaned, in case of timezone data it is in glibc, so I think the maintainer
is simply too busy, cause he is working on new packages...
