...and then also look in what section these fonts have had to be
placed: _NON-FREE_!

That's because they forbid *any* modifications to the glyphs, which is
against the "must allow derived works" rule of the Debian Free
Software Guidelines. But as Jim also said, you're OK if you allow
modifications to be distributed under a different name.

Your idea of creating a Free font is great! ATM, lots of people seem
to be forced to use the M$ fonts...
