Indeed, but will the ftpmasters be willing to apply the required fixes,
provided we reach a consensus about what the right fixes are?

The main concern is the override file in ftp-master. Fixing the control
files in the real packages is a secondary issue. Actually, this problem
should be much easier to fix than the "Fail To Build From Source" one.
