Description : Performant and full-featured news engine written in PHP
daCode is a news engine (or CMS - Content Management System) written
in PHP. It works under PHP 3 and 4, and uses a database to store
informations. It currently supports MySQL and PostgreSQL through a
database abstraction layer. You can also use LDAP or NIS along with
your database.
daCode is oriented towards modularity and performance. So it uses
object-oriented features and has a cache system. Other important
features are a complete themable interface, user authentication,
multilingual support, a board, a tips module ... and much more.
Here are the main features of daCode:
* Complete site management
* News management module
* Advanced comments management with two moderation systems
* Complete themability for easy customization
* Per user customization of front page
* Cache system to limit server load
* Use of template for easy theme creation
* Tips, webcam, poll modules
* Interactivity : comments, board and internal mesage system
* Compatibility with several databases (MySQL and PostgreSQL, for now)
* May use NIS or LDAP
* PHP 3 and 4 compatible
* Works with Apache, Caudium or IIS, under Linux, *BSD or Windows
* Multilingual support, with french and english translations.
I once ago did some packages for dacode 1.0, I plan to reuse as much as possible
of that work. My package will use debconf in order to allow full configuration
of daCode. I plan to release it before mid-june. Please note that Denis
Barbier (barbier@debian.org) will be the "backup maintainer" for this package.
