Sorry for abusing this thread for my little idea.. But I think it would be
useful if I could disable a service in cron.* by removing the executable
permissions. That's how I do it now already, but run-parts still tries to
execute them, spamming me every day because it didn't work.

Wouldn't it be better to give run-parts the intelligence of skipping
non-executable files?
