'cause you don't have a
/usr/lib/emacsen-common/installed-flavors
file. You can either 'touch' it, or convince emacsen-common
to do its post* thing first (ie remove gettext, install
emacsen-common, and then install gettext again. Apparently
emacsen-common is small. It just keeps track of the emacs
flavours you (don't) have on your system. :-)

This happened because gettext gained a dependancy on
emacsen-common, but still tries to run its post* scripts
before emacsen-common does.

Have a look at the BTS for gettext. There was a discussion
of this problem there.

emacs is a wonderful OS, but I prefer vim as my text editor. :-)
