That's because pico doesn't understand '--', which only provides
more evidence for my point that there's no standard interface for a
hypothetical 'editor' virtual package to provide.

Well, you've defined EDITOR (or possibly VISUAL) as "pico". That's
hardly the 'sensible-editor' script's fault.
