Alien across architectures

Hi guys,

I am trying to alien some sh4 rpms to sh4 debs on an i386
development machine, and run into the following problem:

...
bao@bao:~/dusthat/rpm$ fakeroot alien -d zlib-1.1.3-2.sh4.rpm
dpkg-shlibdeps.orig: failure: ldd on `debian/zlib/usr/lib/libz.so.1.1.3' gave error exit status 1
dh_shlibdeps: command returned error code
make: [binary-arch] Error 1 (ignored)
dpkg-gencontrol: error: current build architecture i386 does not appear in package's list (sh4)
dh_gencontrol: command returned error code
make: *** [binary-arch] Error 1
...

Is it possible to do it directly other than generating a
temporary location, modifying it, and rerun debian/rules.

Thanks.
Bao
