Maybe you should take a look at the prerm script in
/var/lib/dpkg/info/zope.prerm (if you can't read shell-scripts, post
it on debian-devel, so we can analyze it).
Furthermore, you should have filed a bug report against zope, not
against general, since this is almost certainly a zope bug. I will
reassign it to zope.
