Hm, I did my last unstable update to days ago and I still can reproduce
the behaviour of update-passwd:
[~]$ update-passwd --dry-run
Adding user "majordom" (30)
Adding group "majordom" (31)
[...]
So are you sure, that the new version is in the archive available? And
why are the user and group id different?
