  I'm curious -- have you managed to get it to install new Recommends? (ie:
version X of A is installed, but version Y>X is available; version Y
recommends package Z, but version X does not.  Package Z should be selected
for installation)  I haven't been satisfied with the methods of doing this
that I've thought of.

  The patch you posted doesn't seem to do that, but I can hope :)
