actually the symlink could be created in any case, what is the point in
creating a single question for this?

heh, well sayed.. 'trying to make it hard for users to use traceroute'
this is exactly the point. making things easy or hard. i don't see any
reason to keep users from accessing traceroute anyways. Is there any
reason for this?
