Did you try running "auto-apt debuild"? According to the manpage
it should do the same as your script but it uses the LD_PRELOAD
variable which might be faster. It also does resolve build
dependencies at build time... "Checking for gtk-config..." pops
up a request asking me if I want to install libgtk1.2-dev :)
