Having a 'make world' would be really cool for systemslike this.
Also, to make Debian possible as a sort of framework for the embedded
world...  In these sorts of cases, to be of real use, it's more often
than not necessary to make little tweaks.  And given that there really
isn't that much stuff to compile, it's pretty fast...

Am I volunteering to do this? No, I don't have time unfortunately.
