must dpkg --get-selections also give distribution name?

Some time ago there was a mail that apt-get could do (in future ?)
something like this:

apt-get install fvwm/unstable

even if the rest of the system is using stable. But if I want to save
the list of all installed packages (to clone a host), I can't use
dpkg --get-selection cause this would only say that fvwm is installed,
but not from which distribution.
Should dpkg --get-selection be enhanced ? What's about a
--get-selection-with-distribution option ?
