(submitting to wnpp is already done.) Defoma stands for Debian Font Manager. It provides automatic font configuration framework and some nice useful features like alias, priority and substitution. One of the components, defoma-ps manages PostScript fonts. It includes a program to register PostScript fonts installed in a PostScript printer, which enables these fonts appear in the font-choosing menu of postscript-outputting applications. In addition, it provides a list of available PostScript fonts and XLFDs which substitute for the PostScript fonts, so that X applications which need a pair of a PostScript font and a XLFD for their font configuration can easily perform font configuration. There were no framework for automatic font configuration so applications force users to manage to do configure fonts by themselves. I belieave Defoma will solve this problem.
