buggy smail & list membership

A buggy smail version in the woody archives probably got me
automagically removed from  the list as an invalid address. If someone
could reinstate me, I'd be much obliged.

Also, is there any word of an exploit or Trojan that sets one's ether
interfaces into promiscuous mode? I noticed today that eth0 had been
set into promiscuous mode without my knowledge or intervention, after
being asked by someone else to whom it had also happened if it were the
case.
