aha.
the Imake stuff for woody (xutils 4.0.1-1) seems to somehow be doing this.
Specifically, I think
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/config/X11.tmpl
and the LinkConfDirectory ()
macro seem to be the problem.
I'm going to file a bugid for xutils.
