Although both Solaris and windows 2000 currently outpace Linux in sheer
numbers of banjos supported a key point to consider is Linux is more
portable. You can build a beowulf cluster that supports foghorns, bagpipes
and cats in heat along with your banjos. A team at IBM is currently
trying to port the Linux Kernel to Britney Spears but it is highly
experimental and the system may never be stable under such hostile
conditions.
