Intent to package: libid3-3.7-6, libid3-dev, id3v2

I have no plans to make id3 (http://packages.debian.org/id3/, written by me)
support the ID3v2 specification (http://www.id3.org/id3v2.3.0.txt). It's too
complicated, and I have no interest in attempting takeovers of the id3
tagging software market anyway.

I've waited for quite some time for command-line ID3v2 tagging software to
make itself available for Linux.

id3v2 (http://id3v2.sourceforge.net, GPL) looks like it will be that
software.

id3v2 - A command line id3v2 tag editor.

In case you didn't know id3 tags can be found on mp3 files, they can
store infomation about what band recorded the song, the song name, etc.
I wrote this because id3v1 are seriously deficient in what kind of
info can be in them and the length of info that can be in them. id3v2 tags
are much better but there isn't a tool to edit them in Linux. This is a
tool to fill that space.
--snip--

It depends on id3lib (http://id3lib.sourceforge.net, LGPL), the cross-
platform defacto library for ID3v2 implementations.

--snip--
id3lib is a software library for manipulating ID3v1/v1.1 and ID3v2 tags.
id3lib 3.0.x conforms to all ID3v2 standards up to and including the
ID3v2.3.0
informal standard.

The id3lib project makes use of the resources available through
SourceForge.net. Using SourceForge, the id3lib project is able to provide
several tools for developers, including a project homepage, a mailing list,
a
patch manager, bug tracking, and cvs access, among other things.

The id3lib project page, which includes links to all of the above, is:
  http://sourceforge.net/project/?group_id=979

The official id3lib homepage is:
  http://id3lib.sourceforge.net

The id3lib developers' mailing list's address is:
  id3lib-devel@lists.sourceforge.net

You can subscribe, unsubscribe, and view mailing list archives at:
  http://lists.sourceforge.net/mailman/listinfo/id3lib-devel

Information about ID3v2 and related standards can be found at:
   http://www.id3.org
--snip--

id3lib has an interesting soname - "libid3-3.7.so.6" (as opposed to more
normal sonames like "libc.so.6") so therefore the packagename should be
"libid3-3.7-6" [1]. The full filename would look like
"libid3-3.7-6_3.7.8-1.deb"

Once id3v2 is in unstable, abcde can be made to use it, and then we can all
celebrate the banishment of 30-char title/artist/album/comment limitations.

(And the villagers rejoiced)
