I get the following messages when I "apt-get install something":
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
Sorry, but the following packages have unmet dependencies:
libgtk1.2: Depends: gconv-modules or
libc6 (< 2.1) but 2.1.2-1 is to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).
"Apt-get -f install" doesn't help, nor does installing gconv-modules:
# apt-get install gconv-modules
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
Sorry, but the following packages have unmet dependencies:
gconv-modules: Depends: libc6 (= 2.1.2-11) but 2.1.2-1 is to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).
Upgrading libc6 doesn't help either, it seems to be "too new":
# apt-get install gconv-modules libc6
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
Sorry, but the following packages have unmet dependencies:
gconv-modules: Depends: libc6 (= 2.1.2-11) but 2.1.3-2 is to be installed
libc6: PreDepends: ldso (>= 1.9.11-2.1) but 1.9.11-2 is to be installed
libc6-dev: Depends: libc6 (= 2.1.2-1) but 2.1.3-2 is to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).
It seems like I need to install version 2.1.2-11 of libc6, but where
can I get that one? Uninstalling libgtk1.2 isn't an option because too many
important (to me) packages depend on it.
So what can I do? By the way, /etc/apt/sources.list contains:
deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian unstable main contrib non-free
deb http://non-us.debian.org/debian-non-US unstable/non-US main contrib non-free
Any help would be great!
- Stephan.
