Speaking as Not A Debian Developer:
If it's difficult to sort out which packages should go in which section,
it would also be difficult to *find* a specific package by section. And
certainly any science package that involves computing is going to have a
strong element of math, I would think!
Why not just have a "Math & Science" section and be done with it?
