In my prior exprience it seems hard to get hold of Dermot but I know he has at least updated the MRTG package on:
mrtg (2.8.6-1) unstable; urgency=low
* New upstream version.
* Moved the mrtg lock files from /etc to /var/lock/mrtg. Closes #41806.
* Ensure that Makefile, config.log, config.cache, and config.status are
deleted when a clean is done.
* Bugs fixed by previous NMU update: #16130, #32460, #36909, #32998,
#39460, #41471, #41640.

which was only 3 months ago so he still may be around. Someone (I forget who) is going to NMU a newer version of MRTG that splits out SNMP_Session, I wonder if that person has been able to reach Dermot yet.
