Subject: ftp.debian.org: No standard naming convention for mirrors..
To: submit@bugs.debian.org
X-Mailer: bug 3.1.6

Package: ftp.debian.org
Version: N/A

I would propose the following naming conventions..
ftp1.debian.org, ftp2.debian.org, etc, with ftp.debian.org pointing to
ftp1.debian.org, in addition I would suggest that ftp.<country code>.debian.org
etc be setup..
(ftp1.us.debian.org is allready setup however others are not..)

Note country codes as is described at
'http://www.ee.ic.ac.uk/misc/country-codes.html#country codes'
(URL provided by Espy on #debian on irc.debian.org)

On a related note I would suggest similar naming for www.debian.org and
http.debian.org, (www for web mirrors, and http for httpable mirrors of
ftp.debian.org)..

Thanks..

I think this is as done as it's going to get. Most mirrors have /debian, the
ones that don't aren't going to in the forseeable future, and we have a
round-robin http server (http.us.debian.org).
