Unless someone's already grabbed it, I plan to package instmon. It's a utility for tracking/handling the changes created by installing local (i.e. non-debianized) software. It can track the changes using any of the following: find, strace, or (ideally) installwatch. It's licensed under version 2 of the GNU GPL, and it's home site is <http://hal.csd.auth.gr/~vvas/instmon/>.
