There are open bugs against dpkg on this, IIRC.

grep-status -Pe '.*netscape.*' | grep-dctrl -FStatus -sPackage -n \
 'install ok installed' | xargs dpkg --purge

grep-status and grep-dctrl are in package grep-dctrl.
