SuSe crashes Debian print service (lprng)

We are running a Debian 2.1 box as print server (lprng 3.5.2).

When submitting a print job from a Suse box, the print service crashes:

E.g. printing from Suse on hp5c, results in

rainer# lpq -P hp5c
rainer# lpq -P hp5a
Printer: lp is lp@localhost
Printer: lp@rainer 'HP LaserJet 5M (0.141)'
Queue: no printable jobs in queue
 Status: server finished at 16:14:41

Removing the cf..., df..., and hf... file from the spool directory by hand,
brings the service back to life.

I noticed, that the Suse system adds more information for the control file as
e.g. a Solaris machine:

rainer# diff cfA001rapc09 ../hp5a2/cfA613rawu
1,8c1,5
< Hrapc09
< Psgersten
< Js208.1.bench
< Crapc09
< Lsgersten
< fdfA001rapc09
< Ns208.1.bench
< UdfA001rapc09
---
> Hrawu
> Prainer
> fdfA613rawu
> N/home/sgersten/dfg/CUT_32/s208.1/s208.1.bench
> UdfA613rawu

Any idea, what is wrong?
