About becoming a Debian developer
Hi,
My name is Cyrus Patel and I am currently a university student studying
computer engineering and have completed 4 years of a 5 year course.
I have been using Debian GNU/Linux for about 1.5 years and have been using
GNU/Linux for about 3 years. I have been following the debian devel lists
for some time now and I would like to offer myself as a prospective Debian
developer.
I have read the docs about becoming a developer and I believe myself ready
to undertake a task such as this. I have a good understanding of the
debian tools for producing packages as well as a good understanding of
GNU/Linux and programming in general. Additionally, I am very eager to
learn new things and would take such an opportunity very seriously.
I do not have any specific package in mind but if there was an orphaned
package or one that required a developer that you thought was within my
capacity, I would be extremely appreaciative to be given such an
opportunity.
If you feel I am perhaps not ready for the responsibility, if it's
alright, could you give me some advice for what I should concentrate on
such that I can try again in the future.
Thanking you in advance
Cyrus Patel
