They had a CVS branch for making KDE 1.1 work with QT2.0 (called KDE 1.2).  But
due to the soon (hopefully) release of KDE 2.0 there was never much enthusiasm
for KDE 1.2.
I'm not sure that there would have been much point.  KDE 1.1 couldn't take
advantage of QT2.0 features without significant re-work, in which case why not
just use KDE 2.0.

Incidentally the kdelibs package for KDE 2.0 doesn't compile with the latest
GCC in Potato.
Coolo says that version of GCC is broken.  I haven't yet tracked this down
enough to find out what exactly doesn't work.
