It doesn't really :-), but:

 - A Debian package plus the still necessary .tar.gz is somewhat more
   effort for me...

 - For a proper Debian package, I'd have to write some config stuff
   etc., for which I'm too lazy :-)

So it basically comes down to laziness, yes :-)
