Hi all, Please not forget the Cc: andrea@linux.it in your email because i'm not subscribed with this account on -devel I would like to package the client for the project seti@home what is seti@home: SETI@home is a scientific experiment that will harness the power of hundreds of thousands of Internet-connected computers in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). You can participate by running a program that downloads and analyzes radio telescope data. There's a small but captivating possibility that your computer will detect the faint murmur of a civilization beyond Earth. You can find more information at: http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu Is a terrible non-free for this point of the FAQ: Q)Why don't you release the source code? A)We decided not to make source code available for security reasons and for science reasons as well. We have to have everyone do the exact same analysis, or we can't have any control over our research and be confident in our results. We were also worried that there may be a few people that want to deliberately try to screw up our database and server. btw i think that is a packag interesting package. (debian like X-files project ? :-) ) please contact me for any question Best regards Andrea Fanfani -- Andrea Fanfani andrea@debian.org andrea@linux.it fanfani@edu.ph.unito.it
