I'm not...and I'm really stumped as to why this is happening as I have
dug a bit closer into things and it seems everything is setup properly...so
I'm going to do a reboot and see if that fixes things...

the program I'm compiling (kpilot) calls the files in /usr/include which
then call those in bits/whatever or elsewhere...but it seems like it's
not calling them right...as it's looking for (for example) stdio_lim.h in 
/usr/include...so I look at stdio.h (i think that was it) in /usr/include
which is what calls stdio_lim.h and it is setup correctly (with
bits/stdio_lim.h) ...I'm guessing I just need a reboot...(I hope)..so off I
go to try that really quick.
