Re: seperating out non-free

A big problem is that whenever someone mentions something like this, people
come out of the woodwork screaming about how Debian shouldn't even so much as
acknowledge the existance of non-free software because in their eyes that is
tantamount to encouraging its use. Ivan, I completely agree with you. Debian
may not have non-free software in it by default, but it is the responsibility
of us to make sure that our users have the _choice_ of installing whatever
they want using our packaging system. The more we stress that users have the
choice of installing non-free software, and stress that it is non-free for a
reason, we affirm our commitment to Free Software while maintaining a
distribution that is both technically superior but also offers the most
choices of software pre-packaged.
