How about the halves having different names, and upgrading the
origianl-named package to have no files, but depend on the two
halves?
Ie: original package foo provides functionality bar and baz. It is
desired to split this out. After the split, there would be packages
bar and baz, but there would also be a new version of foo which would
contain no files. The new version of foo would depend/recommend bar
and baz.
That way, new people install bar and/or baz. Old people (and old
packages) will install (depend/recommend) foo.
I'm new here, does this make sense?
