Same here, it is a no-name card with a ES1868 as well.

In my case I am using this card with kernel 2.1.108. Configuring it
was very easy after I read /usr/src/linux/Documenation/sound/ESS1868.
Basically the instructions recommended to use isapnp, although you can
avoid using isapnp if you do what Miquel told you.

All sound is compiled as modules here.

antenas:~# cat /proc/sound
OSS/Free:3.8s2++-971130
Load type: Driver loaded as a module
Kernel: Linux antenas 2.1.108 #11 Sat Jul 4 10:32:32 VET 1998 i586
Config options: 0

Installed drivers:

Card config:

Audio devices:
0: ESS ES1688 AudioDrive (rev 11) (3.1)

Synth devices:
0: Yamaha OPL-3

Midi devices:
0: Loopback MIDI Port 1
1: Loopback MIDI Port 2

Timers:
0: System clock

Mixers:
0: Sound Blaster

I have also used this card under 2.0.x kernels with no problems at
all. Just configure it as a SoundBlaster or 100% compatible when you
are configuring your kernel.
