Someone mention my name? I'm more than will to discuss anything that
makes java easier in debian.
The major problem things like kaffe have, it seems to me, is a lack of
non-tainted programmers (i.e. folks who've never even looked inside
src.zip - the source for Sun's class libraries).
There was a great rush at one point to setup a debian java
environment. There's even a mailing list for it! Unfortunately, and
it's as much my fault as anyone's, nothing seems to have come of it.
So, the question becomes: what do the various debian developers
working in Java want to do with it - do we have/need a vision for how
java should fit in?
PS I'd move this to debian-java but I have no idea who (other than me)
is subscribed.
