If they are byte-by-byte identical to the ones info-zip and the 
FSF distributes, there is no reason to think they contain a virus.

It would be a good idea, however, to replace unz512x3.exe by a more
current version like unz532x3.exe.

As far as I know, unzip is there for people who want to use fips or
loadlin in their DOS systems, i.e. for people who a) has already DOS
installed and b) do not want to remove it from the hard disk.

Therefore it is *very* unlikely that you don't have "a writeable storage
with enough space".

I disagree. If we can put those files untouched, as distributed by the
authors, we should put them untouched.
