For these files, I plan to ship files
/root/.bash_profile.dpkg-dist
/root/.bashrc.dpkg-dist
inside base-files.deb and copy them (in the postinst) to .bash_profile,
and .bashrc if they do not exist.
This will reduce by two the total number of questions dpkg asks when
upgrading a bo system to hamm (btw: somebody should count how many
questions are needed for an upgrade, we should try to reduce these
unneeded prompting).
However, they would still be "configuration files", but also my
/home/sanvila/.procmailrc is a configuration file, isn't it?
Therefore, dot files in root's home directory should be allowed not to be
symlinks to /etc. If current policy does not allow this, it should be
changed immediately, IMHO.
