Well, for one thing, fsp will support a much higher userload than ftp.  
Although it's been a while since a non-beta release has been made, the
code is still being maintained as far as I know.  I'm hoping that for slow
links fsp will provide a slightly faster tranfer.  Also, one thing I
really like is that the fsp method for dselect can report the progess in
kilobytes while downloading packages if trace is set in the setup.
