netscape + java activator: undefined symbol: stat

Send this to debian-user with no result...

I had netscape (4.05 and I think 4.07) + java activator working for
quite some time, then suddently netscape started crashing when <your
favorite applet> is accessed.  Any ideas on which library that used to
provide the symbol "stat"?  Must be a recently upgraded library
(current frozen - 2 weeks at most).

ERROR: /usr/lib/netscape/plugins/javaplugin.so: undefined symbol: stat
Cant load plugin /usr/lib/netscape/plugins/javaplugin.so. Ignored.

wind:/usr/lib/netscape/plugins 22> nm -D javaplugin.so |grep ' stat$'
         U stat

wind:/usr/lib/netscape/plugins 26> nm -D /lib/libc.so.5 | grep ' stat$'

I don't even know which package to file a bug report against... or how
to get things flying again.  Anyone?
