strange mirror problems

I let run mirror. Suddenly it told me it got 350 meg over night. Damn..
mirror -n -pDebian-slink says (for example) the following:

get file main/binary-all/x11/xbooks_3.3.2.3a-2.deb as main/binary-all/x11/xbooks_3.3.2.3a-2.deb (17400584)
get file main/binary-all/x11/big-cursor_1.4-1.deb as main/binary-all/x11/big-cursor_1.4-1.deb (8762)

Now. Let's have a look at the actual files:

/debian/dists/slink/main/binary-all/x11 # ls -l xbooks_3.3.2.3a-2.deb
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 17400584 Aug 24 13:53 xbooks_3.3.2.3a-2.deb
/debian/dists/slink/main/binary-all/x11 # ls -l big-cursor_1.4-1.deb
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 8762 Jul 10 13:52 big-cursor_1.4-1.deb
/debian/dists/slink/main/binary-all/x11 #

The size is the same. The date presumably makes mirror fetch them all.
What have I done? I was mirroring from ftp.de.debian.org lately...

btw: $Id: mirror.pl,v 2.8 1995/08/06 14:03:52 lmjm Exp lmjm $

*any* ideas? It seems mirror is refetching the whole fscking archive. This
is too darn expensive... *SIGH*
