If anybody is interested, I've packaged gtksamba.

It seems a little raw right now. It's kind of like having a neat config
file editor with tear-off menus, but without those pesky COMMENTS to get
in the way! heh, heh...
Don't mean to knock it. It shows promise.

GtkSamba is a GUI tool for the configuration of Samba, the SMB file server
on X11/Unix. It will read, edit and write /etc/smb.conf, an alternate
configuration file, or from a network. It uses the GTK toolkit.

It will let you edit any existing parameter from a text entry, but without
any checking.
