I'm running 220.127.116.11a-6 on several machines and in my case it's a split
decision. Some work, some don't.
What I've noticed is reports of problems finding fonts and with xkbcomp.
There's some oddities that you need the "right" combination of old and new
packages too unless you want to break xbanner and some other things that depend
on the old X set. If I get some time this week I'll document exactly what's
going wrong on my present non-X machines (in the meantime I use the console;-).
