I have.  Without documentation.  I am -very- glad I learned vi as much 
as I did.  Xenix System III, and a corrupted /etc/passwd I needed to 
fix.  No vi, no emacs, no ex, just ed.

But while vi was a big progress over ed, so was emacs over teco, and 
earlier, as well.
