No, it is a feature :-), this is from the smartlist extended description:

* Enough intelligence to overcome the ignorance of some subscribers (will
direct subscribe and unsubscribe requests away from the regular list and
automatically onto the -request address).

I do the masking just in case, since I don't want to match the complex
regexp against every of my post to this list to see whether or not it
would be accepted.
